The community nurses work very closely with the GPs to provide care to individuals in their own homes and in residential homes. Shapinsay Nurse Practitioners telephone 01856 711348 North Ronaldsay Nurse Practitioners telephone 01857 633226 Mental Health Team telephone 01856 888280 The team provides care for individuals with mental health problems, alcohol and drug addiction. There is also a specialist team which deals with dementia and other mental health problems, such as depression, for those over 65. Macmillan Team telephone 01856 888249 The Macmillan team help care for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses in the hospital and the community. As well as providing terminal care they are also experts in the treatment of cancer, pain and symptom control. All of the Heilendi GPs work with the team at Macmillan House to provide care both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Maternity Services telephone 01856 888238 The Midwives and staff of the Balfour Hospital Maternity Unit provide care for women during pregnancy. Appointments can be made with the maternity unit on 888238.
We also work closely with other health care professionals including dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech & language therapists. With the patient’s consent, we also work alongside Social Services and voluntary organisations. |
