When We Are Closedtelephone_brown

Between 6pm and 8am in the Evenings and weekends and some public holidays are covered by NHS24. When you call the surgery outside opening hours you will be automatically transferred to the NHS24 number.

You can also dial it directly on 111.

NHS24 is a national service that deals with health queries and emergencies when the surgery is closed.  Based in various centres across Scotland, they have a team of nurses who can deal with your query, call a local doctor out if necessary or put you in touch with the most appropriate service.

NHS24 has a full and up-to-date list of all of the Orkney doctors, hospital services, emergency dentists, clinics, chemists and other health care services.  Their information comes directly from NHS Orkney, so you can be sure it is current and correct. They will deal swiftly with your call and can direct you to the local service that best meets your needs.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and/or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
