Please call 01856 888270 or book online (not available meantime due to COVID 19).

Consultations with either GPs or nurses are by appointment only, and are made at ten minute intervals.  A separate appointment is required for each person needing to be seen.

We will guarantee you an appointment within 48 hours if you require to be seen urgently (not including weekends).  If you wish to see a specific doctor you may need to wait longer for an appointment.  If you wish to see a particular doctor, please make this clear when you call.

At Heilendi Practice we have three different types of appointments which are listed below:

Routine Appointments

Routine appoints are for non-urgent matters.

Duty Doctor Appointments

Everyday we have a Duty Doctor who deals with all requests for urgent advice and/or treatment that day.  The Reception Team will take a telephone number and the Duty Doctor will give the patient a call back. The Duty Doctor will then offer a 'Duty Doctor' appointment if he/she requires the patient to come in, or will give advice over the phone.

Minor Injuries

At Heilendi Practice, our Clinical staff deal with Minor Injuries; so instead of going to A&E for Minor Injuries you can be seen at the Practice for:

  • Sprains and strains.
  • Wound infections.
  • Minor burns and scalds.
  • Minor head injuries.
  • Insect and animal bites.
  • Minor eye injuries.
  • Minor injuries to the back, shoulder and chest.

However, our Clinical staff cannot treat:

  • Chest pain.
  • Acute breathing difficulties.
  • Major injuries.
  • Severe allergic reactions/anaphylaxis.
  • Overdoses.

If you have a minor injury and are in any doubt whether a member of our clinical staff can treat you please get in contact with the Practice and one of our Doctors can give you verbal advice.

Telephone Consultations

Some conditions or a request for advice can be dealt with over the phone to save you coming to the surgery. If you require a telephone consultation with a GP or a nurse, please telephone the practice and ask for a telephone consultation appointment.

Important Facts about Appointments

  1. If you decide your appointment is no longer needed, please ring up and cancel as soon as is possible so that someone else can have the appointment instead.
  2. If more than one family member needs to see the Doctor, please make a separate appointment for each family member.
  3. If you have several different problems to discuss with the Doctor, please make a longer appointment or separate appointments, as routine appointments are only 10 minutes long.
  4. If you are more than 10 minutes late for an appointment you will have to re-book for another time.

Chaperone

If appropriate, a Doctor will offer you the opportunity for a chaperone to be present or you can request this service yourself.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly. Our nurses usually consult between 08:30 - 12:10 and 14:00 - 16:00 however later appointments are sometimes available.

Disabled Facilities

The surgery is based within a purpose built hospital which is fully accessible. The surgery also has an induction loop. Please ask at reception for any assistance you require.  All notices can be made available in larger print.
